My conversation with Phil Kotler, AKA "The Father of Modern Marketing"

Episode 1 of "A History of Marketing" is up: Dr. Philip Kotler: 'The Father of Modern Marketing'

Dr. Kotler was the first person I reached out to when envisioning this podcast, and the opportunity to learn from him has already made this journey incredibly rewarding. His book, Marketing Management, was my own textbook in school, and his insights have shaped the field for decades.

In this episode, we cover highlights from his remarkable 60+ year career and discuss the fundamental shifts in marketing practice. We cover a lot of ground in just 30 minutes.

Most people, including marketers, know very little about the history of marketing. Andrew Mitrak who deals with small and medium sized businesses decided to do something about this. He invited me to do an interview about how marketing has evolved over 60 years. His questions were excellent and I answered them enthusiastically. He asked me for the names of other marketers who were familiar with the history of marketing. He subsequently interviewed Jagdish Sheth, David Aaker, VKumar, and other thought leaders in marketing. They will all be available in podcast form. The podcasts would greatly benefit marketing students, marketing practitioners and other business professionals.
